Photos and Historical Information

Enter through a yellow stringy bark archway flanked by

rails of grey iron bark, enhanced by cattle brands of pioneer families

of the district.

They were burned onto the rails during an open day in 1993

The Rotunda is available for hire for Weddings. P.O.A.

The Waluma Post Office was moved to its present site in 1995.

It was originally a slab hut on the Gregory River.

Its was also used as a barn and stables on the Kingston Property at Cordalba

This family donated it to the Historical Society in 1994

The original slabs are over 100 years old.

The two steam locomotives, No.6 made in 1912 and No.4 made in 1896,

were made by the John Fowler Company in Leeds, England.

They operated at the CSR Childers Sugar Mill until 1932 when CSR closed

The two locomotives were purchased by the Isis Central Sugar Mill in 1933

The former Isis Central Mill School was closed in 1987. The building was bought to the

Museum Complex in 1988 as a Bicentennial Project. It holds a treasure of old school items

with one room set up as a classroom with old photos, items from yesteryear,

aboriginal artifacts, some sugar industry history and a large rock collection.

This was a workers cottage donated by the Isis Central Sugar Mill. It has been

authentically restored with furnishings dating from the late 1800s and early 1900s.

This was the first building set on this site in 1985.
